Moving into a new home, especially a first home can be daunting for anyone, with so much needing to be bought and organised. This can be especially hard for young people leaving local authority care without a family to support them, so we try and make the transition to our semi-independent community flats as smooth as possible for the young care leavers we support.

Young people receive a Starter Kit on arrival. This includes all the furniture they need, such as a bed, wardrobe, TV, along with kitchen utensils and bathroom essentials. The items are theirs to keep when they move on to a flat of their own.

Key to our ethos is that all our flats are clean, well decorated and well equipped. This helps our young people feel valued, safe and comfortable from the moment they arrive.  It puts them in the right headspace to move forward positively, working with our team of staff, who offer practical and therapeutic support to address their traumatic experiences, build independence and plan for their futures.

…you have helped me transition into the adult I am now. You’ve been a positive in my life and your kindness is something that you may underestimate the impact of.”
